The Visit

The Fishing Boats, two boats converted into a cultural facility to enjoy a sensory, fun and educational experience, accessible to all kinds of groups.

The Fishing Museum has converted the fishing boats into an original and authentic setting. The new museum space brings maritime culture closer to the general public and explains the role of fishing boats in bringing fish from the sea to the table. It also stands as an iconic image of the port of Palamós.

The visit to the Fishing Boats combines an introductory audio-visual viewing projected in the Fishing Museum with a guided tour on board the boats. An expert guide accompanies all tours.

The Fishing Boats incorporate accessibility measures to facilitate and enrich visits to visually and hearing-impaired groups.

The Fishing Boats’ regular programme offers various activities and guided tours. Check out the programme and availability in the activity schedule and at museudelapesca.org

Guided tour

From the moment they go out to sea until they get back to the port, the fishermen carry out a wide variety of tasks and activities. However, a lot of these tasks are largely unknown. On board the two professional boats we take a closer look at the daily life of a fisherman.

Fishing boats are a means of transport and a work platform adapted to the sea, a visible manifestation of fishing as an economic activity, and the greatest description of hard work, daily struggles, the lifestyle and a very unique maritime identity.

These Fishing Boats are the most representative examples in Catalonia, and in Palamós they become a privileged setting to find out about an essential trade of the primary sector of our country.

Activity included in the Indika programme run by the Diputació de Girona. 1) First request and confirm availability with the Fishing Museum and 2) complete your registration through the Diputació de Girona web portal.
