Art and heritage space
Capella del Carme, Art and Heritage Space is a cultural facility with a dual function: the presentation and interpretation space of the local heritage of Palamós and the Ezequiel Torroella Art Space.
The building, dating from the 18th century, had been the former chapel of the Hospital for the poor, an institution promoted by Miquel Costa and a precursor to the current Palamós hospital.
The original building has been converted to provide the village with cultural equipment that becomes a gateway to the local heritage. Through the audiovisual "I, the landscape” claims the landscape, the territory and the singular history of the town, understood as elements that give Palamós a unique identity. The aim of the Heritage Interpretation Centre is to make cultural and natural heritage in accordance with the Heritage Master Plan known, valued and disseminated, approved by the City Council of Palamós, and offer a complement to the thematic offer of the Fishing Museum.
Ezequiel Torroella Space
On the other hand, the Ezequiel Torroella Space, which shares the central space of the chapel, wants to contribute to the promotion of the visual arts and the recognition of the painter Ezequiel Torroella, thanks to the legacy destined for this purpose by his wife Maria Forné Carreras.
